I usually use the picture side of the card as gift tags. Cut off the portion with the greeting/writing on it, punch, fold in half and punch a hole in one side near a corner and tie to your gift as a gift tag.

Someone took their last years Christmas cards and punched a hole in them and put a ribbon through the hole to make bookmarks and put them out for free at the library

Cut them in half and use the picture side as a post card, you can write your message on the other side. Donate them to a youth group, shelter or something similar to use for crafts. Freecycle them out, that's the way you got them so it might work.

My dd likes to recycle cards... she just prints out a new "message" on the printer in nice colors, then cuts the page down, so that it fits over the "unwanted message" and lightly glues it on. Then she signs it, or gives it other personal touches with a gold pen (or red or green or what ever matches the cards colors). They always look professional and most of the time, you can't even tell that they were "re-made". You could make them into any occasion cards...thinking of you, just to say hello, hope you feel better, birthday, just about anything...look up nice short poems or sayings online too!

Tee hee - just thought of this. Freecycle it to someone else next year kinda like the fruitcake that no one wants - just keep it going round and round!

    OR

Use it as a 'white elephant' gift exchange item?

I would recycle them into Valentine cards. I would cut off the fronts, and save the backs for later. Glue the front onto card stock, and add decorations (kinda like scrapbooking). On the inside, I would write new messages, ex. You are a shinning star. Then use the backs of the cards for gift tags like someone else mentioned. I hope this helps.
