Default Does anyone have the Reynods Handi-Vac vacuum?

My grandma gave me one of these yesterday with 2 boxes of the freezer bags. I was going to put soups in one of the bags but it isn't reccomended for soups or stews. I'd like to buy fruits and veggies in bulk and use the bags for them but unsure of how they would keep. What do you put in yours?

I put already cooked chicken, steak, pasta & veggies in them and they keep just fine. Soups, etc make a mess because some of the liquid comes out of the little vac. hole, so that's probably why it's not recommended, but I've tried the Ziploc & the Reynolds and I find the Reynolds far better.

~I have one and I think they work really great for veggies. I had a bag of blanched asparagus that stayed sealed and fabulously fresh for 7 months in my freezer!~

I like mine when I only have a few bags I want to seal up and don't want to use the foodsaver. Soups are hard to do with any vacuum sealer.

I absolutely LOVE mine!! I have both the vaccuum and the pump and I prefer the pump. It's much quicker!!

I mainly use mine for vegetables.

    Peace & Love!!

I don't have a vacuum sealer but my aunt did and she seals soups fairly often. She freezes the soup first (in margarine tubs), pops the soup out of the tub (like you would with an ice cube from an ice cube tray), sticks the soup-sicle into a bag and seals that before sticking it back in the freezer. I'm not sure if that makes sense to everyone but that way you can seal the soup and you don't have the vacuum sucking up all the liquids. Like I said, I don't have a sealer so I don't ever do this myself but that might help somebody else on here.
