Need to make ice tea
ok, so in order to attempt to cut another expense out I was trying to search a recipe to make ice tea that tastes like Crystal light ice tea.. Wouldnt ya know that I can't find anything! Tons of recipes for regular ice tea. None on crystal light ice tea.
As a rule, I dont like regular tea. Hot or cold. I'm just desperately trying to find a make it yourself version of crystal light ice tea...
So? Can anyone help me?Me 34 DH 37 DS 6

I've never seen a clone recipe for it. But you could do some experimenting! Which flavor is it that you like? My personal preference is the raspberry ice tea. I think if I were going to try to clone it, I would brew up some ice tea, then add either some sugar free jello (just a bit, you don't actually want it to jell) or some raspberry kool-aid (again, just a bit for a glass) and some artificial sweetner!

I actually prefer the original lemon ice tea. I have a mug in the fridge right now cooling. I poured hot water in a mug with a tea bag, added some lemon juice and 2 packets of Splenda. When it cools I'll divide what my son didn't already steal from me
into different cups and add more lemon or splenda until I get it right. The only problem with that is I'm not gonna know the ratio of lemon/splenda for a pitcher.
I guess that's all I can do since I can't find an actual recipe either.
Thanks for replying.

Just had a brain spark! I got a few things of crystal light lemonade from freecycle... Wonder if I could brew some tea and add a smidge of that to it!
I'm off to the kitchen to brew another cup to try this spark! lol

What about something like this: brew your tea and cool, and then add spoonful of frozen lemonade concentrate and sweeten to taste. Never tried it, just a suggestion. Should still be fairly cheap as the tube of frozen lemonade concentrates are really cheap, like 69 cents at my grocery store, and putting just a spoonful in would only cost pennies and should give your tea a lemon flavour

I agree with the last poster. It may be the sweetner you're using that is making the difference. If you can work it out, you might see if you can find the sweetner in bulk rather than packets. I don't remember is aspertame comes that way. If it does, it would be cheaper and easier.
I drink hot tea every morning, and prefer aspertame (the Kroger clone) to splenda. It does change the way the tea tastes.Donna
