What to do with leftover brown gravy?
I am the Wednesday night cook at our church and one of the perks of the job is that I get to bring home any leftovers they may have. Last night all that was left was a large margarine sized bowl of brown gravy. I brought it home because I figured I could do something with it but I'm at a loss. There is too much just to use for mashed potatoes or meat. I was thinking maybe I could thin it out and use it as a base for soup??? I don't know, I don't want to just throw it out but maybe this is just a lost cause.
Any ideas?

I would thin it out and also use it as a base for beef stew.

I'd say that sounds like a good start to a beef stew in the crock pot!

I would use some for stew but I would also use some with whatever meat you have (like I have scrap turkey frozen) in the freezer that could be heated up in a skillet with some of the gravey to be poured over bread. I do this frequently with my scrap meat. It ends up being more gravey than meat on the bread but the boys love it. I serve a veggie and some sort of potatoes with it.

Depending on how much is there and how many people you need to feed that would also be a good liquid for a casserole. Because of some dietary restrictions, we use gravy or a white/bechamel sauce as the liquid for casseroles.
Actually, you know, the gravy mixed with some noodles or some potatoes and a little leftover hamburger or leftover beef and some peas would be a great casserole. Add in a little spices to give it some zing and dinner would be easy.Beak-1996, Toad-1998, and Q-1998

I would use it in shepard's pie, for beef stew, for stroganoff, for beef potpies, mixed with some roast and onions and serve it over egg noodles.

Some very creative ideas, thanks everyone! When we were cleaning up one of the volunteers was going to throw out the gravy... she thought I was nuts when I said I'd take it home. She asked me what in the world I was going to do with all of that. I responded that I didn't know yet but I knew where to find out, lol.
