Toaster Oven
I've considered purchasing a countertop sized toaster/convection oven. I've never really used one but I was thinking about how much energy is used to heat my regular sized oven and if it would save money/electricity if I tried to bake in one of these.
Could everyone tell me what they use their toaster oven for and if you think it would be a good purchase?
Thanks for the advice!

I used Black & Decker toaster ovens for years and absolutely loved them, until the last one caught on fire. So make sure you have a small canister fire extinguisher near-by, such as a First Alert Tundra Extinguisher (looks kinda' like a can of hairspray), and never leave them unattended. I've been on other message boards where this seems to be a common theme.
What I found even better is a Sharp Convection/Microwave Oven - ours is over the stove / with an exhaust fan. I can bake two loaves of bread in 25-minutes and NO preheating. Now THAT's a huge savings over the regular oven. I use the Sharp for nearly all my baking.

A toaster oven would be a nice addition to any kitchen for the smaller stuff. I would personally miss using my big oven...I would be interested in knowing if they are more energy efficient though.

I have owned a number of toaster ovens over the years, and wouldn't recommend them as a replacement for a full-size oven. They are good for re-heating, IMO, but not much else.
A convection oven is another story. My sister has one, and she cooks EVERYTHING (including a turkey and full-sized pizzas) in it. I would definitely consider getting a convection oven in the future.DH aka Mad Hen

I love toast and bagles and mini pizza's and I hated having to use my oven for one or two pieces of bread also I like to butter my toast or had cinnamon sugar to it while toast so a pop up toaster would be a waste of space and money for me so for Christmas my mom and stepdad got me an Oster convection/toaster oven. They were just going to get me regular toaster oven but JC Penny's had a huge appliance sale and mom and a coupon so she got and excellent deal on it.
I love it and it cooks in no time....in fact my toast is about to start calling my name....lol
