    Default Fresh Herbs

I love having fresh herbs on hand. But what is the best way to clean and store them?

I did see that you can rinse them and use a salad spinner. Which I do have one. But how to store after I after I clean them.

I just keep mine growing in the windowsill and pick as needed.

I have seen fresh herbs kept in the fridge in a manner similar to fresh flowers. Cut and immediately place in a little container of water, then use within a few days. I'd replace the water daily, as well.

    You must not have cats.

During the summer I grow them outside. Unfortunately I can't grow them in the house because of the cat.

I wash them and store them wrapped in a damp paper towel in a ziplock in the fridge.

True, no cats, although I foster them sometimes. I just keep a closed door between cats and anything cats might want to destroy that I don't want destroyed.

Wrap any cleaned cut herbs in a damp paper towel and store in a plastic bag in the fridge. They will keep 1-2 weeks depending on the herb.

To dry them I just lay them out on paper towels on a cookie sheet for a few days, then crumble into empty jars saved from other spices (be sure to label what the new contents are).

You can always make them into icecubes then drop in soups and stew as needed.

    LOL

I will have to remember this. Especially after the little stinker walked across and ate part of a yellow cake I made the other night.

I sympathize. I once had a dwarf Netherland lop bunny who was addicted to potato chips. She would go to extremes no bunny has ever or will ever go to again to get to those golden little slices of heaven.
