need ideas for storing foil
For those of use who save foil for reuse, how do you store it? I don't have any extra space in the drawers in my kitchen, so I keep the foil in a plastic zip lock bag in the cupboard. The bag falls out nearly every time I open the cupboard. It is so annoying. There has to be a better way, but I'm stumped. Suggestions appreciated...

I just flatten the foil out, fold it a few times and put it in the same drawer that my box of foil, plastic wrap, zip bags, ect. goes in. I do not keep so many pieces in there that it becomes a huge mess. I only store two or three at the most.

I keep about 5 piece in carying sizes and store them in my oven between the cookie sheets I store in there. It stays flat and out of my way til I use the oven. Which for me is about every night as I broil alot of things. But I just pull out the whole pile set it on the side board and go from there. If I'm broiling a few pork chops I sometimes just shift the cookie sheet pile to the bottom rung in my oven and leave them in. No harm as only the top element gets hot and the broiler pan shields most of the pile.

I keep an old box of foil complete with the tube. When I am done with an old peice of foil that isn't gross, I flatten it out, pull the tube out of the box and roll it back on, then stick it back in the box. It works pretty well. Sometimes, I have to take a few pieces off the roll, before I find the right size to reuse, but it really only takes a few seconds!

For things in zippy bags in our "classroom" I have those re-usable hooks. I hole punch the corner of the bag and hang it from the hook. We use the bags for our alphabet and word cards.
Maybe you could mount a hook on the side wall of the cupboard? Or even inside the door.

The only thing I use re-used foil for is baking potatoes. After I'm done using the foil the first time, I clean it, and cut it into squares big enough to wrap a potato in, then I put the squares of foil into a square clear plastic storage box & put it in the cupboard.

I usually don't keep too many pieces at a time as I try to reuse the same piece several times before getting a new piece out. After I use a piece for a while, I start using it for baked potatoes.
However, if I can avoid it, I don't use foil (it is my DH's first choice) because I don't like to store all those pieces--like you, I find it annoying! I generally try to use glass dishes that have lids, etc. I've picked up some great ones of different sizes at the thrift store. HTH!

I usually only have one piece around at a time. I use it until it is too dirty to clean, or it gets ripped or whatever and then toss it. Right now there is a piece folded in quarters on the side of the stove. I have a piece of counter about a foot wide on the left where the cast iron skillet sits with the jar of bacon fat. And that's where I put the foil or the used-but-clean baggies.

If you have an electric oven, do you also have that extra storage drawer on the bottom? That might be a good storage space for foil.
I wrap homemade bread in plastic wrap, then wrap it in foil (for freezer storage) and use the foil until it falls apart. I fold the foil and then tuck it behind some Tupperware stored on the storage rack on the inside of the pantry door, but most people may not have that kind of storage.
