Talk to me about auto leases

I have a lease on my car (July 2007). Anyway, it was affordable before my husband lost his job and was out of work for 4 1/2 months. He has a new job, but its less money and we had to move over 1200 miles for it.

So, its hurting us each month to pay it. We can't get ahead with other bills. We have over $6500 in medical bills and growing to be paid. We can't build up our savings that were used up during his layoff and the move.

My question is, is it possible to get out of a lease or turn it in for a cheaper vehicle? Has anyone attempted that? This is a 2008 GMC vehicle.

We have to have two vehicles. My husband works 20 miles away and needs his car. I have the three kids and my daughter has alot of medical appointments.

Suggestions?

I don't have any answers but I feel your pain. I did Google "getting out of a car lease" and there are over 2 million links.

Thank you. My husband is not being supportive on this. We need to get rid of it. Its hurting us $$ every month.
