Default Has Anyone Used Space Bags?

My DH wants to know if anybody has tried these, and if so, how they worked.

We're looking to expand our stockpile space and thought they might be a good idea for storing sweaters and winter linens. From the look of them in the ads, they really compress stuff.

if you're talking about the kind that you vacuum out the extra air - yep. i got several and really enjoy 'em.

the only issue i had with mine was the "zipper" (it's like a huge ziplock bag) isnt as easy as they show on tv. and you can fit a bit more in the bags than is shown on tv too!

i've put clothes in there - off season stuff - and when i open it up, few if any wrinkles. i put blankets & pillows up in 'em.

i'd recommend 'em if you're looking to save space or wanting to make use of good storage (under beds, etc.).

there are lots of many sizes to choose from too. there are even travel space saving bags!

I've wondered about the travel ones. What do you do when you're ready to go home? Ask the hotel if you can borrow their vacuum cleaner?

But those are the ones we're thinking about. Thanks for the input.

lol the travel ones actually dont come with a vacuum seal.
it's got it's own directions... basically it's an army roll and then seal the bag... therefore creating a little more space in your suitcase/bag.
it doesnt take all the air out, but it does save a decent amount of space, so it does come in handy (especially for bulky items like sweaters). but i wouldnt use it for suits or anything like that.
    hope this helps!

I really like them, but in my experience, they only work well for one season. Last winter I put my coats in one and sealed it up. It stayed sealed perfectly all season. When I tried to use it again for my summer clothes, it wouldn't keep the air out. So, my experience is that they only work one time, which isn't worth the money to me. I hope that helps!

tbs - really? i wonder if there's a difference between the older ones & the newer ones. I've had mine for probly 5 or more years.
I assume that yours are about a year old since you used 'em for one season - plz correct me if i'm wrong.

Love the regular ones, hate the cubes! They don't really cube baby clothes, which is all I use them for. The other ones are great for quilts etc.

Yep, I just used it for about 4 months that one time. (it went in the trash a while ago). I've only had the one bag, so maybe it was a lemon. That was last winter, so I guess it would be two years ago that I got it. I'm glad yours have held up!

I've had mine for about 5 years, I haven't had any trouble. I use them for blankets, clothes. We also use them in our luggage.

I also bought some from walmart awhile back, I don't remember the brand but they haven't been any trouble either. I got one that has a hanger inside so you can hang it in the closet. It works well for jackets.

I like ours so far, but we'll see. I've only used them for our spring/summer bedding and we plan on switching it out and putting the winter bedding in them in a few months. I can let you know then if ours have held up.

I was just helping a friend clean and she had a whole box of them she was getting rid of because she said they didn't work. She offered them to me...but...ummmm...no thanks if they don't work!
