Calling all cat people! Can we talk cat food please?
We have one cat right now. He is a siamese and has always had a sensitive stomach. Another words a pukey cat. LOL
Well we picked up another bag of cat food Saturday it was like $18 for a 3 pound bag!
We feed Science Diet. We have tried grocery brands and it makes his puking worse.
So suggestions for dry cat food that won't break the bank and will help with puking?

I use the Purina One brand. They make several different varieties, urinary tract health, etc. My cat also had digestive problems but has done really well with this brand.

Our cats get Royal Canin brand. It's expensive, but compared to the food we (people) eat, it's CHEAP lol.

I have a puker too. We tried all the vet suggested, most grocery store brands and Wellness. Still a big puker. DH bought old roy (blue bag)by mistake one day and I thought oh heck I'll try it because it is 30 miles to the store and we are OUT! I was shocked that this food he didn't puke on.
I'd keep experimenting to be honest because a few of the brands mentioned above had my kitty still vomiting so I'm guessing all cats are different.
Our cat also does not vomit on cooked chickem mixed with green beans and brown rice. That was another of the vets suggestions but I found really difficult with 4 cats.

I use Nutro brand foods. It is more expensive but well worth it. Just look for the one for sensitive stomachs. I really love this food because it works and there is less waste.

Rottiegirl cute horse is that a Clyde?
Sounds like you got something like Innova Evo or taste of the wild which is are really good brands.
If you want something in the same cat-agory but not quite so pricey try California Natural or Holistic Select by Eagle Pack. I pay about $8 a bag and it lasts me about two months for one cat.

I've got a yakker, too. He is much better since he's been on Iams Digestive Care but we still have to feed him in small increments to keep him from bolting it too quickly. He gets anywhere from a tablespoon to a quarter cup at a time.

Ours gets Iams Hairball brand. It's the only thing that he can keep down on a regular basis. If he eats any of the outdoor cats Iams regular food he loses it pretty quick.

Try feeding him in smaller amounts. See if that helps. We have 3 cats and all 3 usedto do this till we only gave them 1/4 a cup at a time.

What works best for us is three things: combing the cat, extra clean cat box, and a combination of foods. We serve her hairball treats (Friskies) dental diet (Purina?) and Feline Favorites (Friskies, I think) along with whatever else is left in the bottom of the cat food bin (a tiny bit of this).
Combing the cat was a problem until one day I went after her with a soft nail brush from Lee Valley. (See the gifts section, for chefs,
"the worlds' softest nail brush".) Our cat is 1/2 siamese and and persian, very fine fur and a LOT of it, and she hates every other kind of brush or comb I found, except the nail brushes.
The extra clean cat box is that I've got a "fussy" cat she'll avoid using the catbox if it's messy. I'm fairlly convinced that being diligent about the cat box makes her use it more so fur gets through her system faster, although I can't prove it!

We feed Iams hairball control. It has worked well for us. It is not real expensive and can be bought in some supermarkets.

We have 2 indoor cats. We feed them Special Kitty indoor formula dry cat food from Walmart (it might be a Walmart brand??). Meow Mix indoor formula works well for them too, but costs more.
We found that they can't tolerate it when we switch brands/types of cat food. They do best if we stick to one kind. We also found that we can't give them kitty treats of any kind. They never keep those down.
Also, don't feed your cat cow's milk. Cats usually love it, but don't always digest it well.Last edited by gardening momma; 03-04-2009 at 05:58 PM.

I think our cats do better when they only eat small amounts at a time. The vet even recommended that we spoon the food around the plate so it takes them longer to eat it instead of snarfing it all down at once.
