    Default Dehydrator Question

    Was given a case of red bell peppers would like to dry them. Was also given an American Harvest Snackmaster 2200 Dryer by another friend. No instruction booklet? Can anyone give me any idea as to what temp and how long I should dry them for?

    From my American Harvest dehydrator instruction book:

    No need to blanch bell peppers. Remove stems and seeds. Cut into 1/2" pieces. Usual drying temperature is 130* to 145* Average drying time is from 5-12 hours. Vegetables are dried until they are crisp, tough, or brittle. Package immediately after drying to prevent absorption of moisture from the air.
    “When you get to the end of all the light you know
    and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
    faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
    you will be given something solid to stand on,
    or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller

    “Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
    there are signs that the world is speedily
    coming to an end;
    bribery and corruption are common; children no
    longer obey their parents;
    every man wants to write a book and the
    end of the world is evidently approaching.”
    — From a translation of an inscription on
    an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.

    God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
    courage to change the things I can,
    and the wisdom to know the difference

    Thank you so much. I've gone online and ordered a book but my peppers will be mush by the time it gets here.
    Off to set the temp and timer.

    Laurie, you can also roast them in your oven to get that roasted flavor, then dehydrate them.

    WOW! Thanks for the link! I love to learn new things and I've had a bunch today. Going to try citrus slices as I have a ton of ornages and lemons.
