Repair JanSport backpack?
So, yesterday I was sitting at school (I know, ugh, on a Saturday!) and pulled my binder and books out... And found a hole in the bottom of my backpack!
The hole is big enough to stick 2 fingers through and is very near the back corner on the bottom (leather area). Does anyone know a good way to repair this without it looking slipshod? I have decent sewing skills, but have never worked with leather (and this bottom is suede...the very, very soft type).
Is this repairable to an extent that it will still hold up to a VERY HEAVY book load?
I'm using my Dh's old backpack in the mean time, but the left shoulder strap on his is about 1/4 pulled out and frayed. I'll have to carry it by the right strap for the rest of the semester (2 weeks) while I figure out what to do backpack-wise...
Ideas?
TIA!!

JanSport gear comes with a warranty, so check out their website to see if it's applicable.

I didn't follow the care instructions (I washed it in the washing machine on delicate...by itself). I didn't learn until the other day that you're not supposed to wash them...oops...

I'm guessing that would void the warranty?Kace - married to Dh 12 years

Still think you should check with them on the warranty. don't count yourself out of the waranty picture yet!! Let us know what they say please.

I would send it back to Jansport. They are very good about repairing/replacing. They have replaced the zipper in my backpack twice now. Both times without any problems or questions asked. They even sent me postcard notifying me that my backpack was at camp.

Just thought I'd update here... I got an answer from Jansport.
They said I could send it in and they could determine if it was something that's under warranty...but if it's an "abrasion tear" (which is what it is) it's not covered.
So, I'm not going to send it in as that would just cost shipping $$$ for nothing...
Any ideas on how I could repair it myself for "lighter" duty? Maybe to use as a gym bag?
I went ahead and found another Jansport backpack to use for school...got it for $52 in town...the cheapest I was finding online was $85 and up for it (certain one I've been looking at)! So, I'm pleased with that...
My old backpack DID last a LOT of years of heavy duty...Kace - married to Dh 12 years
