There's nothing much (humane) you can do to get rid of them. They're rodents and they multiply like crazy. You can sit back and watch them play. This makes for good, cheap entertainment. Sorry...I'm no help. We have squirrels here in SC. We are fighting rats under the hen house, right now. We had chipmunks when we lived in PA. We also had a groundhog living behind our house.

Do you have wood or netting or something from your deck top down to the ground or is it open? If it open, there is not much you can do that I can think of. If it is closed in, you could leave a trail of peanuts and then watch when they come out and then fix the hole they are getting into. That is the only thing I can think of. Sorry. I hope you get rid of them soon, they can be destructive!

I wonder if the crystallized bobcat urine would work? Not sure if you can crawl under there to spread it, though.
Otherwise, either traps or a barn cat would work. Or a rat terrier. Not pretty, but after he killed a few, the rest would probably vacate and find more comfortable quarters.DH aka Mad Hen

Be thankful they're outside. We had them in our mother-in-law apt. We could hear them rolling acorns inside our ceiling. They were chewing on our insulation. Our neighbor caught 26 in traps, they like peanut butter. Why do they have to go? Are they eating the deck?

Sad to say but if they are under the deck, eventually they will be in the house, like the OP said eating wiring etc. Try the pee idea, also can get fox pee. Or google chipmnk eradication. I'm all for humane treatment but then I need my house in one piece too.

I don't have any idea if this will help, but I looked back through posts to find it. Thevail had a skunk under her garage and her dd received some stinky perfume for a gift. She had been dealing with the skunk for a long time. When she poured the perfume under the garage the skunk left. Good luck; hope whatever you try works for you.

I really don't think you can get rid of them short of killing them.
If you do, more will just move in.
