Chicken and Hamburger
Since I'm new here, just want some thoughts on what's considered a "good price" for Chicken and hamburger! I found bonless, skinless chicken breasts for $1.88/pound and Extra Lean Ground Sirloin for $2.49/lb....thoughts??

A lot of it depends where you live.
I myself do not pay over $1.75 lb. for 85% lean ground beef.
$1.50 lb. for boneless chicken breast.
Actually it is super easy to bone out bone in breasts. They are on sale a lot for less than $1. So I have been getting those and boning them out.Debra

I just paid .77 a pound for chicken breasts, they were not skinned or boned, I did it myself. I bought alot and put in foodsaver bags & in the freezer. It will hold me until the next big sale.
I dont buy beef from the store, we get it by the half.Pine trees, with their needles pointing up to heaven, represent everlasting light and life.

those are great prices in my opinion. I usually get the boneless skinless on sale for $1.99/lb and stock up.
the hamburger I buy in chubs at Costco. It is lean beef and it's in their freezer section.

In my neck of the woods both of those prices would be considered extremely reasonable! I generally pay $1.99 for skinless, boneless chicken breast (on sale) and $2.99 a pound for ground sirloin...

Here, boneless chicken breast is usually about $1.99 regularly. So anything under that, I would think is a good deal. I normally buy regular chicken breast for .99 per pound and just debone them myself. It's not that tough!
For ground beef, I don't buy ground sirlion, so I don't know what a good price would be for that. I normally just buy extra lean ground beef, and I don't pay over $1.49 per pound for it. It regularly goes on sale for that, so I stock up when it is priced right! Although, with prices going up, I would imagine it's gonna start getting harder to find at that price!

Those sound like decent prices. Boneless/skinless chicken breast is normally 1.99. ShopRite mailed out a coupon this week for 1.49/lb in 2 weeks. You bet I'm gonna get the biggest pack they have. Sometimes I find markdown split breasts for 1.29/lb but it feels like they're less meaty & I've paid more for bone, so who knows.
As far as ground beef, I wait till the 85% goes on sale for ~1.99/lb then stock up. If you mean around 93%, then 2.49 is pretty darn good.Jill, SAHM to Ivy Marie 11/24/08
