Anyone ever done engine block cooking before?
We will be going on vacation in July and I have been thinking of cooking our lunch for to eat on the way on our car engine block. Not only would be a great learning oppurtunity for my kids and will save us money from having to buy lunch on the way but it will also be a great "do you remember when" moment lol
So has anyone ever had any experinece with this type of cooking?
TIA
Andrea

Yep. My uncle cooked some filet mignon once.
If you are a neophyte in this aread, I would recommend starting with something easy. (Precooked bratwurst)
Make sure you are careful!
Here is a good resource on this type of venture!
I'm sure the kids will remember this for quite some time.
Great idea.

I found this link too: http://www.wisebread.com/cooking-gre...the-heat-is-on
I'm actually a pretty good cook but have never tried this method. It's supposed to cook slower then an oven but faster then a crockpot.
I'm actually laughing at the idea of driving by other cars and having the smell of roast coming from my car. We may end up making lots of people hungry

Nope but we have a neat little cooker from the truck stop. It looks like an old fashion black lunch box but is lined with aluminum inside. It heats to 350. Really cool!

We just use an inverter in the cig lighter and use the crockpot while driving.

roast beef with potatoes/carrots
lasagna (I use a OAMC recipe for this and freeze in containers that fit my cooker)
chicken with cream of chicken soup -- then shredded it, added cheese and made chicken roll ups with torillas.

Oh this is just toooooo much.
Will have to give it some thought.
Shortstack, I have more than a vision of the smell of roast coming from my car. I have this vision that I am driving down the highway and hot dogs are flying out behind me from under my car!!!
