Glue on clothing.
My mother just bought a polyester dress from a catalog. The dress arrived in a plastic bag that was glued shut. Unfortunately the front of the dress has a line of glue across it. Does anyone know how to remove the glue without ruining the dress? Would greatly appreciate any help.

Topaz, I don't have an answer for you, but had to post that when I read your thread topic, I thought it was about clothes that you have to glue on your body. I couldn't possibly imagine!

Hope someone can help you with the glue!My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

I don't understand? Glue is water soluable. Can't you just wash it. Is it dry clean only? They will get it out. Or can't you send it back?

I would contact the catalog company and let them know of the mishap. Hopefully they will replace the dress and then change their ways so it doesn't happen again.

My DH said your probably talking packing glue. See if they will replace the dress and give you something for the annoyance of it all.

I would send it back or call and ask for a replacement.

I'd send it back. But try it on first. Some catalog clothes run small.

Mom tried on the dress and it fit. I did contact the company and they are sending another. They told me to either throw this one away or donate it. I have no intentions of throwing it away. But I would like to get the glue off it.

I'd try the Goo-Gone. I've gotten lots of different things out with it.

I think I would go with the goo-gone too......I don't think it will remove the color but might want to try it on some 'seam material' first.
Good luck and let us know what you used if you get it out.

I would soak it in water and see if the glue becomes tacky over a while, if so, then scrub it out. If that doens't work, then I would suggest tying goo gone too, I would check it in a small area out of site to see it it melts it or such first...if not then use it sparingly. I would also wash the goo gone out as soon as you have the glue off of it, as it is not good to sit on the fabric as it is polyester (which is a plastic/petrolium product).
Good luck.

I would try heat, put a soft cloth over the spot and iron it until glue becomes soft, then try and remove it. Diane
