Smuggle in my own drink & candy. Nothing is better than fresh popped & buttered popcorn, so I splurge on that. Though, I must say it is annoying when people bring in big "rattly" shopping bags full of more "rattly" bags of snacks. No fun if you can't hear the movie.

P.S. I really must have no ethics cause we d/l most of the movies for free when they come out on DVD quality.

We do carry in candy in my bag...but I carry candy in my bag all the time LOL!

'Movie popcorn' is part of the whole movie thing for us, especially the kids, so we factor it in there when planning to go.

Our local theatre has lately had a 'super Tuesday' promotion where drinks and popcorn are $1, we've taken advantage of that some this summer. Otherwise, we try for the matinee times.

We usually will take in candy but we do buy our drinks there and sometimes popcorn. That is really the only way to save around here. You can go to the early movie and it is $1 cheaper.

The occasional time we do go to the movies, we go on Thursdays. That is the day of the week when movies are only $2/person. We never have sneaked in snacks or drinks...we just don't have anything.

Someone did that here years ago. I don't know that they were sneaking it in, but... They'd gone to one theater, got their popcorn, went in, decided they didn't want to watch that movie, and left. They went into another nearby theater, took their popcorn in, and were told they couldn't take in something from outside, that they had to buy it at the theater they were in.

Well, they got snooty, the theater-goers, and it went to court. The case even got in newspapers across the country.

Sheesh! It's popcorn! If they won't let you take it in, throw it out! Or don't bother with the business that day.

When you consider that even on our 'cheap Tuesday', a movie ticket is around $12.00, we almost always take our own snacks with us.
I refuse to pay the price that movie theater asks for the same snacks that cost almost half at the supermarket.
