Online fund-type account for a baby shower?
I am a single woman who is adopting and I've been freecycling like crazy so I have a lot of stuff - crib, changing table, bouncer, diaper genie, swing, high chair, tub, etc. I mean TONS of stuff. I do plan to register for some stuff I need, but what I'd really like to do is to create an account to help pay for the time I'm off work for family leave - like a honeymoon account for a wedding or something like that.
My company doesn't give any paid time off if you adopt, I'm trying to save up as much vacation time as I can but after 2.5 years of infertility treatments and now with adoption social worker visits, I don't have a lot saved. I have a lot of baby "things" and I have two cousins and girlfriends that are giving me more stuff. After everything I've been through, I just want to be able to take the full three months off to be with my new daughter.
Anyone know of any of these types of accounts for baby showers?

I'm unaware of any such funds.
Is someone throwing you a baby shower? If so maybe they can ask that instead of gifts that you really need funds to stay home with your new daughter? Even if it was just consumable goods that people gave you it would help you $$ wise, Such as diapers & formula. Just a thought.
I wish you the best with your new daughter.~~~

Not much help.......but can't the people giving the shower set something up with a bank?.......like they do for people that have medical needs or etc. They do that type of thing here all the time.
Then something can be written in the invitations stating it has been done and how to give.

Tell your closest friends that you really could use the money and why you need it. Then let them handle it. When I got married Al and I were older and I had a home etc. We didn't need anything. I told my maid of honor if any one asks ... They gave me a money tree for my shower. each person who came tied their gift to a branch. We had a great time and I got a lot of much needed cash.

I think the money tree, or special bank account would be great for you, like the others said. I just want to say, CONGRATS and I hope you can take the 3 months off to bond with your baby. Good Luck!

I like the money tree idea as well. What about setting something up with PayPal? That way your personal bank info. isn't given out directly?
