    Default Grainlady what is the...

storage life of soft white wheat? Some how it escaped me that soft white wheat has a shorter life than hard white or hard red wheat. I have all of these types but did realize that the soft had a shorter life. I have it sealed in a mylar bag that has oxygen absorbers in it and it is also in a food grade bucket with a gamma lid on it.

should I use this up first? Also what is the storage life of spring wheat?

    TIA

I've read different opinions on the storage life of soft wheat. You have it stored correctly for long life, especially if it's stored in a cool temperature. It's my understanding that it will keep 5-10 years.

Here's a link that may be helpful on the subject. Note, they consider soft wheat a "hard" grain in terms of storage time.
