Default Question for Couples Without Children

What is your monthly grocery budget? There's only DH and I and we spend about $80/week. I know that is WAY too much, and I used to get by on $80/month a while ago. I'm looking to cut down that budget, but I'm wondering what you all spend on groceries per week or month for just two adults.

I spend MORE than you do, about $100 a week. DH and I like premium food and so we make it priority and budget accordingly. I COULD use $50 a week, but not and buy natural beef, etc. the way we like.

I average about $75/week most of the time. If we are entertaining alot that cost can go up to about $100-$125 week. I try to take advantage of the buy one get one free sales so that I can donate to the food pantry. Also, I buy dog bones and treats at the grocery stores alot.

Like the others, we spend what we want on groceries. It's just the two of us and we have no debt (except mortgage) and virtually never eat out. Dh travels a lot, so when he is home, I fix what he wants. That means good meat, organics, fresh produce, etc. Yesterday we spent over 200.00 because we have guests till Sunday. We also like to spoil our guests

I spend $50-80 a week most of the time, but we eat very well. DH will not eat beans or pasta, I buy premium cheese, tea, organic breakfast cereal, brand name items, and fresh vegetables and fruit.

When DH was out of work we did pretty well on $50 a week. A lot of the expensive stuff went away, but we still had meat 5 nights a week and did not feel deprived.

Thanks folks. I don't feel so bad, seeing as we're on par with everyone else. I would like to cut it back a ways though -- at one time, I lived with a guy and we spent $80/month on groceries. Though at the time we weren't buying organics and were pretty careful about how we spent our moolah! Thanks much!

DSO and I spend about 50$ every two weeks on food and hba. And I am on a special omega 3 rich diet (as per dr) so I have to eat a lot of fish, nuts, etc (= pricey!!)

As of now, I keep my baby budget separate from ours. For the two of us, including HBA, dog, etc., it is 60/week. Back when we weren't watching as closely, it was averaging 75 and that was before everything went up drastically. Also, I may not spend the full 60 one week but use the remainder the next week if there is a good sale to stock up on.
