What have you always wanted to learn to do?
I've always wanted to learn to throw pottery. It seems like it would be a really nice way to make a set of custom dishes. Perfect wedding, Christmas, birthday presents hand crafted with love and a few bucks worth of clay etc.
But I always seem to put it off, "it's probably too hard", or "costs too much" or "I don't have time right now", or or
I finally managed basic knitting (and I do mean basic) but what I really want to do is knit sweaters.
Why don't I just buckle down and learn to do it? I really don't know!
Do the rest of you have things you've always wanted to learn, but for some reason haven't gotten around to?

Hehe . . . Maybe if you watch the movie Ghost again it might spur you on to take those pottery lessons!!

For me, it's playing the violin. Don't have a clue why!

I've always wanted to learn how to sew, I mean really learn. I don't have the funds for a machine or the space in this house. Nor the time now.

I have always wanted to learn to run, as in marathon running. I have said this for years and years. And....... I start tomorrow. Kinda nervous. I do step aerobics every week for the last 4-5 years and finally decided to take the plung and sign up for a 6 week running clinic. I'm sure it'll go well, just kind of nervous.

I had always wanted to learn how to make stained glass. I love beautiful things. I think part of the reason I never tried is because of fear of failure. I seem to shy away from things with a sense of nervousness.
Then one day my Mom started making stained glass. She took some classes and I was so proud of her. It's not easy to start something new.
In 2008 for my birthday she signed us both up for a class. She even gave me some of her old tools to get started with. It was so nice to meet every Thursday and learn something new together. After class we would go have lunch together. I will never forget how sweet this time was w/my wonderful mother.
I have made a few peices and even won a couple of ribbons in the County Fair.

I'd love to learn to be a blacksmith.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

For me, it's welding. I had a gf in highschool whose father welded. I kept trying to get him to teach me, to no avail. When I was in school they wouldn't let me take woodshop, etc. because I was a "girl" which frustrated the heck out of me!

Strange notions of living alone in the wilderness somewhere, just building a little dwelling in the bush, wearing a red-checkerd quilted jacket, and hunting and gathering food substances while carrying a flask of water and some hard-tack (and a weapon too, I guess).
PS: Sometimes I just wanna get away from it all.

It's a long list, but here's a short form:
1. sing
2. really play the piano, not just plunk around
3. speak a foreign language fluently
4. learn shorthand
5. take a Latin class (I know it's a dead language, but....)
6. take a gourmet cooking class
7. learn to play a zither
8. run without my hips hurting
9. skydiving used to be on my list, but now I'm sort of scared of it
10. go to beauty school and learn to do hair
And that's part of my bucket list!Spiritual:
"You are fearfully and wonderfully made." Please... respect life.
Financial:
Debt free, hoping to stay that way!
MY BLOG: glorybug.wordpress.com
1. Keep on writing.
2. Get some balance in my life.

Welding is also on my bucket list. I have been thinking of taking a welding class once my son is in school full time. Commercial welding does not appeal to me, I want to learn it to create art.
I also would love to take an auto mechanics course. I sure wish I had listened better to everything my dad tried to teach me when he insisted that women should knows as much about cars as men. Alas I was young and stupid then

forHISglory, I had 3 years of Latin in high school. It may be a dead language when it comes to speaking, but I have found many times it helped in knowing what another foreign word means. Many of our English words are from Latin, so I aced the vocabulary part of my SAT.
