free places to go
Where do you go that doesn't cost anything?
For example, the beach, library and nature center. What else?
When I lived in NY, I used to go to Mt Hope cemetery a lot. There were historical headstones there, such as Susan B Anthony and Frederick Douglass. It's situated on something like 200 acres and is simply beautiful.
So what do you do that has free admission or is free?If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. It's internationally syndicated through Universal Uclick. Thank you for supporting Frugal Village.

Barnes & Noble on a rainy day just to read books & mags or the mall to walk around. If it's a nice day go to a place that has trails and go hiking with dog or go to festivals to look for ideas to make.

When I visit DD is St. Louis, I visit the St. Louis zoo as often as possible. Not only is it a fantastic zoo - it is totally free!! I love seeing so many famlies and children enjoying themselves!!

Library, zoo, city parks, county parks, beach, Harley dealership open houses (free food and entertainment), cemeteries (all sorts of famous people buried in and around my area, book stores, parades, hike and bike trails, etc.
I used to take my mom to the mall to walk. It was a big circle, smooth surface, and protected from the weather. We would window shop and people watch.Mary

We go to the renaissance festival for free. A friend of ours works there and we're allowed to sign in as "guests". It would cost us over $30 otherwise! I'm sure there are other places where employees get free passes that they can share.
They have free movies around here once in a while. They are sponsored by the library or the museum. I've never been, but I hear ads for them on the radio.Use it up, Wear it out,

I enjoy going to a knitting group that meets twice a week. Also, I check the local paper to see what is going on in the area for free. A couple of weeks ago was able to go to a place called Grounds for sculpture for free. One day out of the year it is free admission. The local state museum has free events also.

Some of our museums here have free admission on the first Sunday of the month. Apparently, it's quite common across the country.

Our community association meetings are some of the best free entertainment around! Well, I guess there's the membership fee, $6 per year, but that's pretty close to free.

We are very lucky, there are so many places and things we can do that don't cost a thing! We go to the beach a lot, we take lots of "road trips" and always pack a picnic.......we go to local apple orchards and walk and just look. One of the last places we went was The Getty Museum!

We live in a rural area, so we don't have access to much besides the library and tiny musuem. BUT, we have millions of acres of National and State forest lands. So we spend alot of time outside walking on the trails. We get together with friends alot at the local parks and the river. My kids are always up for a picnic or a new spot to ride their scooters, etc. We go letterboxing and my kids LOVE that.
