Source For Inexpensive Girls' Jeans
I haven't been to the Village for a while, since I've been really sick, so maybe I missed a prior discussion on this.
Anyway, I want to do something sorta' special for my grand-daughters for Christmas and am looking to buy several pair of NEW jeans (girls size 5) to embroider with butterflies and such.
Does anybody know of an inexpensive, on line source for such a thing? Or can you recommend a store that might carry them? All the retailers I've looked at have plain jeans in the $15 - $20 range.
Any help would be appreciated.

Go to your local thrift stores. You can find used and "like new" clothing. You might have to visit several and/or go on a regular basis, but you will find what you need and not spend much money either!

I usually drop by the Thrift Stores twice a week, so normally this would be great advice. Unfortunately, we seem to have a little baby boom in girls who wear size 5, so I can never find jeans AT ALL - in any condition. Hence the question about new ones.
Thanks, though.

Have you asked when they put stuff out? I have a friend that buys used men and boys clothing at thrift stores and sells them on eBay. He on buys certain brands. He has buddied up to several employees and they have told him when they stock and even put aside some things for him!

This may sound unfrugal - but seeing as you're willing to pay for new jeans - have you tried looking a lil further at neighbouring thrift stores? Maybe one on the other side of of town - if your towns big enough or possibly the next town over?
What about a kids recycle store - similar but not limited to Once Upon A Child. Keep an eye out for garage sales as or posted clothing swaps within church groups or mother's groups.

I would check consignment shops and thrift stores. Also, watch the sales really closely. Some stores may still have clearance sales going on.
You have a really great idea. You might want to extend it to a denium jacket, or denium hat, if you can't find enough pants, all depending on what is available. Stretch pants are supposed to be "in" now. Can you do something like that with stretch pants?

try the sale racks at target. you can get some good deals there. I also get good deals at Macys with coupons. Usually something is 25% off then take an additional 50% off then I use a 15% coupon.

I have seen new jeans with tags on at consignment shops. But how much time are you willing to spend on the hunt?
Check wal-mart, etc clearance racks.

Wal mart and target carry jeans for $10 ($9.99) in store and on line
You can find them on clearance for cheaper but you would have less of a selection if you are needing a bunch of one size.
Land's end overstock has plain jeans on clearance for (9.99) but they are only 6X size
LL Bean has plain jeans on clearance (sale) of $12.99
Good Luck and the embroidery you are think of putting on them sound so cute.

Try JC Penney. Their toddler sizes go to 5T. I've gotten plain jeans for my daughter there this year. They are always on some kind of sale. I think I paid 4.99

First thing that came to mind is WalMart. I've done well at Kohls clearance racks also.
