No, money can't buy happiness. Poverty, however, buys you a whole lot of misery, cheap.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Money buys happiness to a very limited extent.
You need enough to provide a basic standard of living for yourself and anyone who depends on you. After that, more money brings most people no additional happiness.

Money buys peace of mind. Happiness is something you need to actively pursue regardless of how much you have, but the pursuit is much easier without the stress of poverty.

I have to agree with everyone. Money can buy happiness(sort of) - I just got two new puppies. They make us laugh all of the time. I have also had very high highs and very low lows.....I think as long as you have friends and the very basic needs met - you can be very happy.

I suppose it depends on how much money you have. For me having enough to pay the bills, put food on the table, and just a little bit extra makes me happy.
My friends and pets give me the most happiness.

Lora88 said almost exactly what I was going to say. A certain amount makes life comfortable, whereas a substantial lack of would be very difficult.

For me happiness is a result of being at peace with myself. If I have my needs covered, I am at peace, the rest is just extra. Also, happiness comes from within not from outside. You can have all the money in the world but if you are at war with yourself, no amount can ever make you happy.

Money can't buy happiness. It can only buy stuff. We often think that stuff will make us happy, but it won't.
Happiness is a product of being content. If having stuff makes you content, great. It you can be content without a lot of stuff, great, too. If having stuff does not make you content, the problem isn't with how much stuff you have, but with how you approach contentment.

Keith is right. Happiness comes from within, or being content. Not from material possessions.
Every human has to have their basic needs met. It the standard of living you want or hope to achieve that usually makes people not content with what they have.
Instead of having money to back you up for emergencies, you waste money on material possessions trying to give yourself a "false" sense that you have a higher standard of living. Not to mention the material possessions lose value, quick.
Be happy with yourself and what you have. Life is much more enjoyable.Carrie, ravenmaniac - I love my Ravens!!!!
