    Default Potato Chips

Ok this may seem silly but I don't know what a good price for potato chips would be at all. My daughter's birthday party is coming up in the next few weeks and I was going to have some chips at the party. Today I was walking down the chip aisle and I didn't know what a good price is if someone could help please.

It probably depends on where you live. Here we will see 2/4.00 or 2/5.00 for the usual size bag for the common name brands like Lays. Other brands on sale will usually be more. Store brand usually run, regular price, if I recall, a little less thatn $2. Sale maybe $1.50? I really don't remember that.

I look for a deal that will net the bags around 1.00 for "good" chips. Like right now, Chetoos and Fritoes are .88 with in ad coupon at Safeway.

Often you can find them for 2/5.00. Then you can often find "tearpad" coupons for buy 2 bags get 1 free. that would be 3 bags for 5.00 or 1.67 a bag. That'd be a good deal too,

    good luck

I wanted to add to not be brand loyal. You are on the lookout for the best deal on any brand of chips. Not, how cheap can I get brand X?

I'm able to get store brand chips for 99 cents and the brand name chips like Lays or Ruffles usually run closer to $4 a bag unless they are on sale for 2/$5.....right now my Ralph's has them on sale for $1.99 this week.

They have taken a real jump here in the last few months. I am usually brand loyal....Lays....but going to try others as they have gotten too high.

$2.50 is a GOOD price now......and the ounces have dropped. I switched to Fritos but don't like them as well as chips.

If you aren't going to be brand loyal.....go to the dollar store...but not sure how good they are. You can also often get cheetos and fritos in the 'cans' there too.

Have a great party!.......good luck shopping!

I usually go for the store brand chips and pay between $1 and $1.29. The kids don't know the diff if you open the bag in the kitchen and pour it into a bowl before you bring it in. You can also pour a few different types into a bowl for a party mix.

I love Boulder potato chips, and I can usually find them on sale for $2 to $2.50 per regular-sized bag.

I'm such a chip fiend. I will grab a few store brands for 99 cents and some brands I will pay around 2 something for. I gotta have chips in this house.

I looove chips! Usually I pay anything under $2 from brand name on same to store brand depending on type and flavour. Ripple cut, family size bag, reg size bag, kettle cooked, or 'adult' flavours.

I know Costco used to - maybe they still do? - sell 2 family sized bags of chips - mix and match (there's party mix and smart food too) for $6?? Not sure of the price but the bags were huge.

Maybe do a mix of chips and carrot/celery sticks with a dip? Or mix in some microwaved plain popcorn for variety? You can also buy popcorn seasonings at the bulk store - just a pinch goes a long way and you won't be stuck with a bottle of it.

The variety may appear more glamorous but possibly more health friendly?

I like to pick up chips in Aldi's or a dollar store.
Course I get no brownie points with the hubby who likes the Lays brand best. But they have raised the prices and decreased the ounces in the bags. Not good. So chips are not a steady item weekly anymore on this grocery list. His munchies now consist of apples, crackers, cheese, and popcorn.
