Air Force Question and I don't know if it goes here or some where else.
But here goes any way. I am making a quilt for a retired Air Force person. I don't know if he was a pilot . worker. Or what. I am trying to find all kind of pictures that would pertain to the air-force. I googled and I did get a few good plane pictures, Does any one here have any ideas?

You can't go wrong with just simple wings.

Hmm...no help in pictures, but the AF has a song. You could put the song on the quilt. If you knew where all he was stationed each base sometimes has a mascot (would that be the right word maybe logo?) and you could do that. There is also an Airmen's creed. Good luck. If you want just regular pictures I could ask my sister for some of her snap shots of AF things.

Very few of the AF folks are actually pilots. If you don't know if he was a pilot, he probably wasn't.

Hopefully Paula will come help you out.~Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.~

I asked DH, he said the air force logo, it is what fits with any job he had, and means alot to them. Hope that helps.

This place has Air Force fabric... bearpaw quilting
Quilters Cache has many patriotic blocks. Can you get a picture of him in uniform? That could go in the center and whatever blocks/design you choose around that. Do you have a quilt software to design your own? Do you belong to any quilting groups, Im sure you would get alot of ideas from them.

I found what was said was air force one. A picture of it, I found a flight jacket picture. And the pictures the person above posted. Please for give me I did not write your name down. And I am on a new pain medicine that make me for get in a matter or seconds. Now Piney. Since we know each other form a couple boards we are on and your husband seem to know something about some of this stuff. My hubby will be painting this person front porch and back deck this week. So I will be pumping for info as hard as I can. Like where he was and what he did, Just any thing I can find out. I don't think I can get a picture of him in uniform. So Piney do you think your dear hubby can help explain things to me if I need help and any one else here that knows? Please. I am really getting excited about this now.

Do you know his years of service? Can you find out the bases/places he was stationed? Can you find out his rank at retirement?
The USAF logo that was already given is the most recent, but may not have been the logo at the time he served.
I plan on making a retirement cross stitch for my dh when he retires.
Official art: http://www.af.mil/art/index.asp
My basic design idea is the USAF seal:
http://www.af.mil/shared/media/ggall...070719-003.jpg
Rank and date of promotion to that rank:
Enlisted rank: http://www.af.mil/art/mediagallery.asp?galleryID=102
Officer rank: http://www.af.mil/art/mediagallery.asp?galleryID=143
His occupational badge (if you can find out what it was): http://www.af.mil/art/mediagallery.asp?galleryID=4897
Various USAF Aircraft: http://www.af.mil/art/mediagallery.asp?galleryID=71
If you could get info on their ribbons/medals (make sure you put them in the proper order. You might want to get help on this): http://ask.afpc.randolph.af.mil/awar...152&prods2=2&p

The Air Force Song - Full Lyrics
by Robert Crawford, reprinted with permission
courtesy USAF Heritage of America Band
Off we go into the wild blue yonder,
Climbing high into the sun;
Here they come zooming to meet our thunder,
At 'em boys, Give 'er the gun! (Give 'er the gun now!)
Down we dive, spouting our flame from under,
Off with one helluva roar!
We live in fame or go down in flame. Hey!
Nothing'll stop the U.S. Air Force!
Additional verses:
Minds of men fashioned a crate of thunder,
Sent it high into the blue;
Hands of men blasted the world asunder;
How they lived God only knew! (God only knew then!)
Souls of men dreaming of skies to conquer
Gave us wings, ever to soar!
With scouts before And bombers galore. Hey!
Nothing'll stop the U.S. Air Force!
Bridge: "A Toast to the Host"
Here's a toast to the host
Of those who love the vastness of the sky,
To a friend we send a message of his brother men who fly.
We drink to those who gave their all of old,
Then down we roar to score the rainbow's pot of gold.
A toast to the host of men we boast, the U.S. Air Force!
Zoom!
Off we go into the wild sky yonder,
Keep the wings level and true;
If you'd live to be a grey-haired wonder
Keep the nose out of the blue! (Out of the blue, boy!)
Flying men, guarding the nation's border,
We'll be there, followed by more!
In echelon we carry on. Hey!
Nothing'll stop the U.S. Air Force!
Notes: Crawford didn't write "Hey!"; he actually wrote "SHOUT!" without specifying the word to be shouted. Wherever they appear, the words "U.S. Air Force" have been changed from the original "Army Air Corps." Words in parentheses are spoken, not sung.
Airman's Creed http://www.af.mil/shared/media/docum...070418-013.pdf
Also, the uniforms recently changed. Maybe you can find someone who's still got the old uniforms and not using them who can spare them so you can use some of it in your quilt. Also do you know if they have unit t-shirts that you can use?
And for some humor I've attached the 1 photo...Last edited by guest002; 11-09-2009 at 12:47 AM.
