Question about good deal on Baby Clothes?
I have been looking through Craigslist for items for baby due in March. There was a posting put up last Friday for a lot of 59 pieces of boys clothes (baby is a boy). I guess the couple of items that really interested me were the three piece suit for 0-6 months and the 12m winter coat. The rest if a combo of two piece outfits, onesies and sleepers anywhere from 0-9 months. So it is $35 bucks for the lot of it. What do you think? Good deal or not? I want baby to be baptized a few months after he is born and thought the suit would be nice. I looked them up on the JC Penny website and they are 24.99 on sale. The only hesitation I have is having too many clothes I haven't had a shower yet.

That's pretty reasonable.
Honestly, babies grow out of the clothes so fast that it's hard not to get a good deal on them. Eager relatives and new parents buy a ton of them, but the baby grows out of them so fast that they don't get worn out at all, and so there's a ton of aftermarket stuff. Garage sales, craigslist, etc.
If you get too many, no big deal, you can always sell/pass them on down the line again.
(BabyStain just grew out of his 0-3 month clothes in about 10 weeks)

I would pick it up, definitely.

Sounds like a real good deal to me.
Better to have too many clothes than not enough.
And then when your baby outgrows them, you can always resell them to recoup some of the money back.--------My signature--------

Don't forget about www.freecycle.org - people are always giving away free baby/kid clothes on there.

I usually go to thrift stores for clothes and other things I need but what Gottadance suggested is a good idea as well!

I am certainly no expert but having gone through the first year, I would wait. I found that what I needed to buy on my own were sizes 6-9 mos and up. You most likely will be showered with newborn and 0-3. So much that the baby probably won't even wear half of it and a lot of them only once.
The biggest blessing has been getting in contact with old coworkers with kids. I have one that is now giving me hand-me-downs by the bagful. Yes, you have to weed out the junk but usually end up with some nice pieces. Also, another thing to watch out for are the clothes with stains. While some people don't mind, I get kinda skeeved. Make sure you check the clothes very carefully in good lighting before you pay for them. Also, try to check out the clearance racks and buy seasons ahead. I got some really nice summer clothes. Wish I had done this last year before the baby was born. I've had to buy the most clothes for this current fall/winter season.Jill, SAHM to Ivy Marie 11/24/08
