Has anyone bought a car through ebay?

Our 1990 hatchback died two weeks ago, and I've been trying to find a car for a decent price. One popped up on autotrader.ca, but the woman is on a Unicef mission in Spain, and is selling her 'excellent condition' car through ebay. Everything seems to be on the up and up, but I'm leery of buying a car with only pictures. Also, she doesn't claim it to be safetied, because it has been sitting in the ebay warehouse in Quebec since she has been gone. Any advice?

Sorry, we determined the whole thing is a scam. They claim you are protected because though the car is being sold privately, they run the sale through ebay's VPP program. The kicker is that the protection only kicks in if you buy the car off of eBay, so there's no protection at all. If a deal is too good to be true, well...
