Can somene help me with abbreviations?

Now I know that there are various abbreviations used in an email (for example) when there aren't any smilies.
But for the life of me I can't figure them out.

So here they are

))

and

DD
(there are probably many more but these are the ones that I saw this time).

I hope that someone can help.

Are you talking about a colon with a P right after it and a colon with 3 capital D's after it?
They're both smilies. One is a smiley with his tongue sticking out, and the other is just a laughing smiley.

Now that is weird.
I typed in the :::: and the ))))) in the original post but the actual smilies appeared in the finished post.
