Put it in your garden if you have one.

Get your soil tested first to see if you need it though.

If you burn hardwoods you can use it to make lye. You can also make a paste of some of the ash and water and use it to clean the glass doors of your fire place. If you raise hogs you can use it as an abrasive agent to help scrub the hair off their skin when you slaughter them. It's also good to get rid of snow on a side walk in the winter.

OR you could just throw it in the compost bin like everyone else said.

Do you have a dirt driveway? spread it on that.
You could keep some in a bucket for icy walks and driveways.

I dumb it along my fence rows heavily...so the grass wont grow there in the summer.

If i am "out " of fence rows, I add it to the garden and if I dont need it there, I compost it.

Ditto. Dad always mixed ash and leaves for the garden then turned it over. Worms will do the rest. Cover w/ another layer of leaves. My dad called this putting the garden to bed. He also added moo poo to "ADD SOME HEAT". My gram was an excellent gardener and taught him. In the spring spade deep when turning over and fertilize the top. By the time you are ready to plant it be well set. We used to keep a blender for veg and egg shells to "go deep" and mix w/ dirt.
The best garden I ever had i did this and added miloranite and peat moss. My tomatoes were 8 ft. high and I had bucket of them. Good luck. I you get too much put a "free" add in a local paper or freecycle. They will come.LOL.

crafty Pam that is true. also roses. If you add certain leaves they are alkaline. So you have balance.

I dump it in my garden as well. Some of it (not a lot) goes in the worm bin.

Ditto to those who throw it in the compost pile or in their flower beds. That's what we do

We add it to the compost pile. We put a layer on the day's dumpings.
