Great Coffee under $5 pound?
~So far the cheapest great coffee we've come across is Aldi's Kona blend at $4 for 12 ounces.
Can anyone suggest cheaper but tasty choices? I'm afraid to experiment and end up with something undrinkable.~~Constance

Do you have any grocery salvage stores in your area? The one closest to me has Starbucks coffee VERY cheap.

~The more searching I do, the more I keep seeing Aldi's Beaumont coffee recommended as a great value. 8 O'clock and Folgers Colombian seem to rate highly in the bargain coffee category as well.~

You can come take the numerous bags of different coffees I have in my freezer. LOL.
DH likes to experiment with coffee. Which normally ends in another, almost full bag of coffee added to our freezer, never to surface again. We tried a bag of the 8 O'clock brand a while ago and it was pretty good. Another one we tried about a year ago was Ugly Mug and it was absolutely delicious.
Right now he is stuck on a Starbuck's breakfast blend. Although, the past couple of weeks we were drinking Dunkin' Donuts brand. It was my favorite one so far. A month or so ago he tried the organic blend of the Costco brand in a medium roast, which is actually manufactured by the Starbuck's company, but it was NASTY. Sam's makes a pretty good mild roast. It's the one marked as a "Free Trade Product" on the packaging.DD (19)

Not sure if you have a bulk store in your area - our bulk chain "Bulk Barn" sells the beans and you can grind in store. It's nice not being committed to buying a whole pound of a flavoured coffee just in case you don't like it as much as you thought you would. Plus I can mix my own blend if I choose

Hope that helps!2012: The Year Of The Purge!

We roast our own. The price is about 1/2 of what the beans are roasted. You'll need to invest in something to roast beans in (we use a twirlypop with a thermometer.)
See sweetmarias.com for info. However, to avoid shipping costs, see if you have a local coffee roaster and if they will sell you green beans. Two of the 3 local roasters here will sell us green beans, the 3rd (and biggest) will not.
IHTH!

I love Dunkin Donuts. I wait until it goes on sale for 4.99 or 5.99 a bag, and buy it, or I'll buy the bigger bag which is usually about 12.99, to me it's far more superior than any other coffee right now!

I have heard others talking about how much they like Dunking Donuts coffee - think we'll give that one a try. We are definitely not coffee conuisseurs - and have enjoyed the costco brand!!

No clue. I always buy whatever is around 1.50-2.00 a can. Sometimes Green Mountain and Melitta go on sale at ShopRite. Taste-wise, I haven't a clue. Dunkin Donuts is pretty good.
