Well, I just got off the phone w/the US Bank people.
I never received my "your interest rate is increasing letter" because our local post office decided that we moved and sent it back to the company us "undeliverable: customer has moved" !!!!
This is not the first time this has happened, apparently the post office here just doesn't like to deliver our mail - one such item was a package from Germany (where my hubby's from) w/xmas gifts in it. They decided not to deliver it to us, then sent it back... but it got lost somewhere and has never made it to us or to the sender in Germany. And it had several hundred dollars worth of stuff in it we are told.
And now, thanks to them, I wasn't informed of the rate increase and the bank says it's too late to opt out. So, I'm just stuck with the higher interest rate it seems.
It all is just so annoying and unfair. I know, I know, life's unfair... but still, now we have to pay more money a month (money we could've used getting rid of debt) just to make the minimum payments all because the stupid post office here doesn't know how to deliver mail to us.
Ug.
p.s. We actually have already sent a complaint letter to the higher ups complaining about our local post office. We were told that they went on to have a meeting at the post office here regarding the issues. Apparantly, delivering mail is still too difficult for them.
p.p.s. Sorry. It's just been one of those weekends and Murphy just seems to be against us.

You might want to do paperless statements. That way everything goes to your email and you can never have it lost in the mail. With moving so much, this is just easier to deal with

Actually we have paperless statements, but the rate increase they do through snail mail.
We have paperless statements for pretty much everything, actually.
