    Default Non-whitening sunscreen

Other than staying in the shade or wearing a large brimmed hat, does anyone know of a sunscreen that is 30 and above spf? I am trying to be careful with sunscreen protection right now with spring here. The problem is when I put it on my face I have more of a white clown affect. Also, I really do not like using makeup except for mascara and lipstick. Does anyone know of a brand that does not turn your face white and is good for sensitive skin?

I've traditionally used this: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Neutrogena-Dry-Touch-Sunblock-SPF-70-3-Ounce/dp/B001E96P0A]Amazon.com: Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock, SPF-70, 3-Ounce Tubes (Pack of 2): Health & Personal Care[/ame]

Although not cheap, it actually will rub away clear and non-greasy. I've used it extensively when doing long distance bicycle touring (12-16 hours a day on a bike in the sun can be something). This helped repeated avoid some nasty burns and such.

You want to look at the cosmetics report on sunscreens before you buy anything: Summary of Findings | Environmental Working Group

What's safe, what's effective, what's not, and which ones are health hazards. They tested 100's of them.

Remember that it's the "white stuff", zinc and titanium , that blocks the sun.

I use Pre-Sun Sensitive. It's the only kind I've been able to use since I was little. I'm a very pale red head, so I use it in combination with floppy hats & umbrellas

Coppertone makes a version called Coppertone ultraGUARD Continuous Spray SPF 50. You can close your mouth and eyes, spray it on and then rub it into your face.

I second what Linus said, my DH uses that brand (spf 70) daily, even winter, the 'whiteness' disappears in an hour or so.
I've sensitive skin too & only use eye-liner & lipstick/gloss. I use Clinique (sp?) spf 40 for winter months, might switch back to spf 70 neutrogena in summer. Yep, California is a sunshine state, I need all the protection I can get. Recently, I saw a spf 90 by neutrogena, haven't try that yet. Oh, I use mosturizer first before putting on the sunblock.

My vote is for the Nutrogena Ultra Sheer as well. Rubs in instantly. I recalled using Coppertone Faces or one specifically made for faces. They seem to rub in quicker and easier then the traditional formulas.

I buy aveno sport spray 70 because it is nongreasy and seems to work on sensitive skin. Whichever you choose please use it. we have been dealing with Malignant melanoma for past 6 years.

I use the CVS brand of this and it works great. I have really sensitive skin because of my lupus. I buy it when it's bogo or buy 1 get one 50% off and have cvs coupons from the instore printer.

There is a product called Pre-Sun. You put it on about 1/2 hour before going out. It's a clear liquid. It is sticky but once it dries it's not.

Used it on DS who can get a sunburn at the drop of a hat.

What an interesting question?? I have to say I never noticed it to be greasy or whitening. I must say that though that my skin is still a bit oily and I am definately white. Soo..
That said I just got Walgreens adult and kids sunscreen 50. Claims very water resistant,uvb/uva,non-irratating clearanced at $1.79 and $2.19. Smell pleasantly floral. I always get Banana Boat too. Kids tear-free hypoallergenic, waterproof, spf 30,uva/ubB from Big Lots also not expensive smells decent. Banana Boat sport stinks or maybe mine is old. Butmit smells like gym socks. Dang now i want to go to the beach!!!

I wasn't sure if there was an answer when I first posted this question. Thanks everyone. My skin tone is more olive and just the slightest bit of sun makes me tan so walking around with a white face just is not an option for me. lol Ended up buying the CVS version of the Neutrogena 70. Plus I lucked out and got $2.50 off with coupon and discount.

Have you tried putting on a thinner layer all over and reapplying a 2nd coat to the more sensitive areas a few minutes later? Most sunblocks should rub in/absorb eventually.

IE do the whole face then wait 10 mins til its absorbed then put a lil extra on the protruding areas? (chin, nose, brow bone and under the eye)
