How do you keep water from the dog bowl off the floor?
We have a Labrador who sloshes water out of her bowl when she drinks.
This has cause some of the vinyl flooring to come up and expose the sub floor. Not a good thing.
How can we keep the floor dry. When you have a "constantly getting a drink and spilling" dog. She isn't tipping the bowl just lapping it out I guess. Messy Dog.
We have tried putting a bat mat under it but that didn't work. Water still got under it and made it harder to see a need for clean up.

We have a weimaraner who is the messiest drinker alive. We got a huge, deep bowl first. We only keep it 1/2 to 3/4 filled. We keep a thick bath towel under it and change the towel daily.
He still dribbles water everywhere, but it's not as bad as it was before.
You can also try using a raised water bowl.DD (19)

We had a dog who did this and what I did was stick her water bowl in a dish tub. No mess!

I've got a 19 week old Shih Tzu and good grief him and his "beard" create the messiest I've yet to see. His "beard" soaks up a lot of water and it not only makes a mess where the bowl is, but he leaves a trail behind him! I try to catch him and wipe his mouth but sometimes he's just too fast for me LOL!

Labs love the water and they are the messiest at drinking! I would try a higher water bowl and less water. We have a mat under ours. It helps, but she is still messy.

My wife said that the raised bowl slow down their eating...can't gulp it down. The only thing I have experience-wise with the flipped stomach...I lost a Registered Wire-haired Pointer to it...don't feed large portions at a time. The food goes in, the dog gets a drink, the food swells, the dog jumps and twists, the stomach gets twisted. The dog can die within 3-4 hours.

My friend used $1 store boot mats that had a small lip and a towel between the bowls & mat to absorb any water spillage. She also did the deeper bowl with less food/water in it. This worked well for both her cats & dog.

imagine: its just a regular boot tray used by the front door. My gf used a towel to line it to help absorb excess spillage when her pets drank water, thus no wet towel pressed against the floor. She just happened to be able to buy hers at the local $1 store.
