Baby swing new or used?
I am going to buy a baby swing for my two month old, but am at a loss as to what kind to get him. I was thinking of going to the two baby consignment shops in town this weekend and looking to see what they have. I would like to buy a used one for my moms house as he will be there often. Any suggestions as to what brand I should get and would you buy used or new for your own home?

I would always consider buying used from a consignment store. (As long as there are no recalls, which you should be able to ask the store to check)
you can also check craigslist for baby items, may be less expensive than a consignment shop.Don't Breed or Buy While Shelter Pets Die

If you get a used swing make sure it isn't to old. They have really changed the rules about babyswings thru the years. Not all 2nd hand stores keep up with recalls and items that they shouldn't sell any longer.
Maybe check some websites like Fisher-Price, Mattel, etc to see what there swings look like and they will have the recall websites list on their webpage. That might give you a better idea of prices to beat and what recalls have been out there.

Our swing is a livesaver for us. The colic-y high maintenance blob that is my Maggie Moo Cow loves her swing.
We have a Fisher Price Nature's Touch Cradle Swing. It's one of those that you can switch around the seat so it swings in a different direction. It retails for 160$ but a friend gave it to us when her kids were done with it.
I would definitely check craigslist---but make sure to check recalls!McD

My mom called me yesterday to say that my aunt found a graco swing at a garage sale for $15. She is going to bring it over this weekend. I will make sure to check the website for recalls though. Thanks for the advice ladies.

I would certainly go used as long as it was in good condition. They don't tend to use them long enough to buy new. My children probably used them for a few months tops. Best wishes to you and your baby.
