Solution for razor bumps
Well it is that time of the year again. Does anyone know of anything that will help take care of razor bumps and in grown hairs? Sorry to be so specific but with bathing suit season upon us would really like to know what can help. I remember someone on tv suggesting a product that men and models use. Just can not remember the name.

I use bikini zone. It's a medicated ointment that will help with that problem.
Something I have also found to help is to shave with the grain first, then AGAINST the grain. Then apply the ointment. Maintainence-wise this needs to be done every 2-4 days for best resutls.
There are certain chemicals in the Bikini Zone that make it a little...um...not good if you plan on certain intimate activities later on.McD

My mother always said to do it in or right after a shower when the skin was moisturized, and to use a lotion too.
A good scrub with an exfoliant pad should help the ingrown hairs.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I second this. Shave first with the grain and then against. Make sure that you use a fresh razor each time. The bumps and in-grown hairs are usually caused by a poor razor and lack of lubrication.
I don't get bumps anymore because every time I shave, I use a new razor.Wife to DH since 10/31/2002!

I usually give it a thorough scrub with a shower pouffy/wash cloth (my legs that is) before I shave with either a shave gel or a good conditioner and I always apply a strong moisturizing lotion after.

Agree, I use bikini zone as well.
I always use a good razor(I like men's razors the best) and agree it is important how you shave. I also follow up with a good moisturizer.
Also to add, sometimes bumps/ingrown hairs can be from bacteria.
ETA, or I use Paul Mitchel the conditioner or a conditioner if I don't use bikini zone.

Is this 'Bikini Zone' an after shave lotion/gel you apply or is it a shave gel? And does it actually work?
I recall someone - either friend or family - using Tend Skin, you apply after shaving to help reduce redness/bumps but it never worked.2012: The Year Of The Purge!

For an exfoliant, plain granulated sugar works great. Sugar is a natural...can't remember the ten-dollar-word LOL but it attracts moisture / helps moisturize. I use it as a face scrub as well, sometimes mixed with some olive oil. Cheap and natural.
Off to go switch razor blades now on the advice of the previous posters...

They have more than one product and I use the anti-bump shave gel. The blue bottle.

I think it works and my hair is course.
But I also shave every 2 to three days. Even in the winter.

i wax just for that reason. i get it done at a salon/spa. not frugal, but alleviates those bumps and ingrowns.
tend skin does not work at all.
if you have an ingrown already, soak in warm washcloth and try to work it out and apply neosporin.
