    Default insulating windows in summer

I was curious as to which method works the best to keep the house cool in the summer: wax paper, aluminum foil or bubble wrap. I am hoping the bubble wrap will be efficient because it is easy to take on and off, lets the light through and can usually get it for free.

Is this the best place on this forum to ask this question? If not, where should I ask this question?

    Thanks!

    Bubble wrap works rather well.

I've got bubble wrap on a couple of my windows - put it on for the winter - haven't taken it off yet. One window cracked. Might just be a fluke, but apparently it can happen.

I'd try a reflective shade on the OUTSIDE of the window. I know there is a material out there that's perforated so you can see out. If you can keep the sun off the window, you won't gain much heat in the summer.

google reflective shades to see what I mean.

    Default insulating window

Most comments I have found on the internet talks about bubblewrap for the winter. Even though when I googled insulating windows with bubblewrap for cooling the room this was mentioned, I am questioning whether this really works.

As I said before, I prefer this because it looks better than aluminum foil and wax paper and you can take it on and off and I received it for free!

    Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

The energyboomer website has really good information. You can probably also e-mail him a question.
