Question Clay Dirt Stains On Clothes

My friend was playing baseball in the rain on a red dirt clay field...she's tried soaking the jersey, Shout and OxyClean but its not coming out just faded in. Looks pretty sad actually

Is there a way to get these stains out?

We used to use Fels Naptha (sp?) soap. It is in a bar form. Just rubbed the bar of soap over the clay, then scrubbed and scrubbed. Then washed as normal in the washing machine. Seemed to work pretty good.

    Good luck.

I agree with the Fels Naptha Soap. It really works! For a super serious stain, I scrub with the soap, and then let the clothing item "rest" with the soap in it for about 15 minutes; rinse. (It seems to work best with very, very hot water, but I guess that depends on the stain, too.) Great product!

As a potter we usually soaked any towels or clothes in water. But really since it is red clay it is pretty much going to stain.

Shout also worked well after soaking. After soaking in overnight in clear water try soaking overnight in a solution of oxi-clean, water, and detergent.

This is what I do. And after I scrub the stain with a brush I let it sit for about an hour and then I launder it. You can also use Octagon bar soap. Same as Fels Naptha, just a different name and smell LOL
This also works on sweat stains in the arm pit area of shirts. Wet the stain, rub with soap, scrub with brush, let sit. Then launder.
