Hmmm. I've never heard of one. I suppose we could invent a new one!

Let's see. I guess it could be Amerophile.

LOL! maybe American FV'ers could think of a name ( if there isn't an official one) and I could pick one that I would be happy to be called ?????????

I'm wondering what an English person who loves all things English is called? Is it still Anglophile?

    That's a good question, EL.

So I guess unless someone comes up with something better I will be an AMEROPHILE lol!

Amerophile would be the technical term.

I'm kind of partial to "Yankophile." I refer to myself as a Canuckophile for my love of Canada.

I think it should be Americanophile rather than Amerophile, based on analogy with other such words (Francophile, Anglophile, etc.) which use the entire root rather than just a few syllables of it. The other option is to put "phil-" in the front (like "philhellene") and it would then be Philamerican. However, I think Philamerican sounds really weird.

In Greek it would be Αμερικανόφιλος which is Americanophile, and all words that have "phile" in them are at least pseudo-Greek origin, so it would probably have to be that one.

One could love American things and not necessarily be talking about things from the United States. The love of American things could be the love of North American, South American, or Central American things. A United States of Americaophile? Yankophile sounds pretty good, but maye some peope in the Southern U.S. might not agree. . .

Hi Kathleen yes I did think of "yankophile", but was aware that it might offend my American friends in the south so decided against that

Maybe it's just obvious I like the USA ? so perhaps I will just leave the self name calling alone and not worry about it
