Swiss chard...help!!!
I've been told I can go and cut swiss chard from a friend's field. There's a LOT of chard there. I usually stir fry it. I have only got a top freezer, no dehydrator and a regular fridge. I HAVE been drying corn in my oven and could preserve some that way.
Also, I don't can.
What would you do with a bushel (or more?) of swiss chard?
TIA --
Judi

well it does shrink down alot when you cook it.I would make alot of different meals with it. I've actually put chard in egg rolls vegetarian and it was delicious. I also steam it and drain and mix in butter and romano cheese. you could also put it in soup just like spinach.mix it in with pasta and maybe a few other vegetables.

Can you blanch it then freeze it - as LeeCee said, it does wilt down a lot like spinach.

I agree - blanch and freeze. I froze mine - I'll use it in soups in the winter. Use it any way you'd use spinach - in quesadillas, in eggs, on pizza.
