    Default question about swiffer refills?

does anyone know if you can "refill" the original bottles with your own cleaner? i like the swifter and the smell of the cleaner but they are so costly i wonder if the bottles are able to refilled at home

I refilled with vinegar and water and it worked fine.

I have a couple of the micro-fiber towels from the dollar store and I will use one of those as the pad. I have also refilled it with different cleaners or vinegar and water.

I agree with the others about using a microfiber cleaning cloth...works great!
As far as the cleaning solution, I went to Dollar tree and found a nice smelling cleaning solution, (ocean mist or something). Poured a mixture of the cleaner and water into the bottle from my swifter wet jet...works just as well and MUCH cheaper.

With my Swiffer, I like to use they washclothes with the scrubbing netting on one side.

I might have the older version of the Swiffer or it might be a Wet jet not sure, and I refilled it with vinegar. After a few months the metal in it started to rust. Now I just use a spray bottle with vinegar to spray the floor before I use the Swiffer with the scrubbing washcloths. It is just as easy for me.

I use the dry swiffer with microfiber clothes to dust the wood floors.

I use the ancient original Swiffer that my sis handed down to me. Flimsy fall apart handle and all and I shove my $1 microfibre cloth into it and spray the floor with another $1 mister bottle filled with method floor cleaner. It says squirt and mop on the bottle but I cut it with water and then spray as needed. Sometimes I just spray their multipurpose spray cleaner on the floor and use the Swiffer to mop it up.

Sidenote: DF bought a Swiffer starter kit at Costco that was pink (breast cancer theme) and well...the handle has come a LONG way now - it stays together and is very sturdy!
