What to do with...
the "juice" left in the maraschino cherry jars. I have 2 1/2 jars full of the stuff!
-AND-
a bacon grease/brown sugar mixture left from a batch of cocktail weenies.
I kinda hate to throw the stuff out, although I wouldn't have hesitated in the past. What would you do with either item?
Oh, and I'm not asking for ideas for the combination of the 2, but if you have some ideas, that would ROCK! LOLWife to Kenneth

Cherry juice...could probably add flavor to smoothies, cookies, muffins etc. Bacon grease and brown sugar? Ugh just do your arteries a favor and throw it out!

Cherry juice......maybe make into jelly or thicken for a sauce for pancakes. Or pour over vanilla ice cream as is
Bacon grease and brown sugar.........I would be adding stuff to it for a suet cake for the wild birds.

Oooh, I like the idea of the suet cake! I never even thought of that!
LOL@doing my arteries a favor. Yeah, that's probably a pretty good idea, too.
I had thought of jelly but don't have pectin and didn't want to buy any. I'm afraid it would boil down to nothing before it jell properly. Still, it's an idea!
Mmm, cherry sauce for pancakes. That makes my mouth water!Wife to Kenneth

I'd be experimenting with both as a baste for pork/ham - towards the end of cooking because the sugar in them will burn.

Use the cherry juice to make cherry milk for the kids, or "Shirley Temples" with ginger ale or Sprite, or make cherry colas. Here are some adult drinks that use it: Drink recipes containing Maraschino Cherry Juice
You can freeze the bacon/brown sugar mix for the next batch of cocktail weenies. It might work as a ham glaze. Or on top of sweet potatoes if it isn't too greasy.Use it up, Wear it out,
Make it do, Or do without. ~unknown

I have used some of the cherry juice as liquid when I make a pineapple upside down cake..Makes the cake a bit pink but good flavor..About 1/4 cup is enough. Make sure that you decrease the liquid that you use the same amount.
You could use the bacon brown sugar mix on pork chops to glaze them. Does it have bbq sauce in it? If so you could also put it on chicken near the end of cooking to make it bbq.

I bet you could use a little cornstarch and heat it up to make a syrup for pancakes.
Or I'd try to mix it with a little frosting and make some red cherry flavored frosting.
Fine print: I don't actually know what the cherry juice tastes like because I don't normally use those cherries.

I've also heard of some kind of roach killer that uses baking soda mixed with grease or something... I read it in Tightwad Gazette. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I use it to add to cake mixes like lwlynch mentioned, but especially enjoy it when I add chopped cherries to my brownie mixture. VERY nice flavor!

Sorry I am just now getting back to this thread; we're dealing with a nasty little stomach bug here.

There is a really good fruit dip with equal parts of cream cheese and fluff, blend until smooth and you add cherry juice for color and flavor. really good with Strawberries. Use lowfat or fat free cream cheese for a lowfat dip.
I love all of the previous posts, really good ideas.
