I've bought a lot of chips, cookies etc there. Spices a few times such as chili powder, garlic powder. No issues. Tastes the same as the ones in the regular grocery 3 times the price. Check expiration dates as suggested and don't think you will have any problems.

I bought cumin there and had to throw it out, it tasted like plastic. Other than that, I haven't had any issues.

I love the Dollar Tree, though I usually have to bring DH with me because it's too easy to overspend because of the great bargins!

I've never had a trouble with a thing purchased there; my DH's (he's diabetic) sugar free candies for work are so much cheaper and taste the same as those from the regular market. The spices are comparable to those in the regular shops as well, so have no fear of trying them.Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love.

Pretty much going along with everyone else here. There are a few spices they carry that I can't get anywhere else. ("Memphis BBQ Rub" for example, not very tasty on ribs but is a great when you shake some in soup... and OldMan is from Memphis and says if anyone used that on their ribs they would be run out of town
)
They don't carry many 'powders' like onion and garlic, but the onion flakes are good (they do carry salts but I don't use them so can't comment on how they compare).
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

With spices you get what you pay for. $1 spices usually aren't very fresh, and will lack flavor compared to truly fresh stuff. With things like garlic salt or grill seasoning that isn't usually a problem but if you want basil or marjoram or other green leafy herbs you are getting 2nd rate product. I have also noticed there are a lot more stem pieces and bits of browned or dead leaf in the discount bottles.

Be careful of some of the dollar store spices. A lot of the mixes have MSG (I'm allergic to it, but beyond that artificial anything probably isn't that good for you). I know their steak seasoning and lemon pepper both list MSG (at least the one by my house does). However, I use the garlic and onion powder and it seems okay. Aldi also has spices for $1 each so I get cumin there. Chili powder is really different by each manufacturer so I tend to stick with a favorite name brand on that spice. I buy high-quality cinnamon at World Market or the health food store.

I have never had any problem with them. I just check the expiration dates to make sure they are as fresh as possible.
