~You can put a little slit near the end of the underwire casing and take them out. That way you can still wear the bras without getting poked. I did that with a few Maidenform bras to convert them to nursing bras.
It may be weird but can you ask friends or on freecycle for old underwire bras for scrap/craft? You can slip out their underwires and replace yours. Just put a few stitches in to close the slit you made.~~Constance

My 2 bras are going on 3 years now, and I have had to mend them many times. Most frequently, I have to sew closed holes that the underwire pokes in them. I use a very thick thread for this (almost like embroidery floss, but not silky). I also replaced the center piece (between the cups; it was rubber/plastic, goodness knows why) with a small piece of elastic.
Now, I would be pretty embarrassed if anyone ever (besides my DH) saw these patched up bras, but that's not really something I have to worry about.

DD has done that many times just as Nuisance said. I also wanted to add-if the ring between the cup and strap snaps she uses jewelry making ring. Cheap and more sturdy. Justsayin'.lol

once you do get some new bras, the best way to keep them in good working condition is to NEVER under any circumstance, put them in the washer or dryer. hand wash in dreft and air dry. do NOT weat the same bra two days in a row - give them a day to "rest". wear the bras about 5 - 6 times and then handwash and dry. this is great advice i received when buying some VERY expensive bras at nordies. it works!
