I don't know. it looks like you have to go to this guys seminar to see what he means.Could it be that everything you've heard about how to save money—is wrong?
Most people aren't saving as much money as they'd like to, or as much as they should. And about 3 out of 4 people can't successfully budget (or haven't even tried).
Audiences appreciate Ken's entertaining and thought-provoking style, as he uses real-life examples to explain how to save more money—by not budgeting.
Your audience will learn
The most dangerous way to spend money, and the safest.
Why casinos make gamblers use chips instead of cash, and what that means for our spending.
Six simple steps to saving more money than you ever thought possible
The frustrating and time-consuming "savings steps" that you can skip without any risk to your savings.
Why your sock drawer holds the key to keeping track of your expenses.
I don't think that I really budget. I plan all of my expenses and just keep a general pool of whatever's left. Tracking individual categories was just too much for me.~Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.~

For me keeping track of my monthly expenses helps me feel financially secure. Having a budget keeps me on track. It also helped me to quit smoking when I saw how much money was being wasted!

Sounds like the method is the "keep all of your cash in your sock drawer method". Sounds like a dumb-downed envelope method to me.
I am not buying it at all.

I don't know his particular method, but I suppose you could do fine without a budget, as long as you are aware of where your money is going. If you know that your outgoing is less than your incoming, there shouldn't be a problem. That info could be ascertained by seeing if your bank account is in the positive or negative at the end of the month. That method could be perfectly fine for a long time, but I don't think it would afford me the security and peace of mind that I currently have due to budgeting.

In thirty-six years, we have never made a late payment, never bounced a check, never had bad credit, never had to borrow money to pay bills, etc. We've also never, ever used a budget. So yes, that can work. But of course it's like anything else, handling money is not one size fits all. You have to do what works for you. This works for us. YMMV.
