    Default Selling Books?

    Need to sell some books.

    Has anyone used Cash4Books?

    Any other suggestions?

The only place I've used is my local used book store, which gives me store credit for the books they take. As I buy from them also, that works for me.

I have sold to Cash4Books. Didn't make a ton as most of my books are "best sellers", but it got them out of my house and I made a few bucks. I need to do another set soon myself.

If you do go with them, I can send you a referral link.

Mahalo for the ideas. Tigergirl - Please send me the referral link just in case I go with them - or perhaps I shall try a few out and see what works best for my situation.

I have used cash4books but my experiance is a little different. I found out that the store is near Portland and so when I gave them my address they offered me a choice of payments. They would pay me more money if I brought the books in. I did and the place is very nice and modern. The clerks were efficient and professional.
I am afraid that for Mauimagic the transportion costs might not be a frugal choice...she should ship them

i would go to ebay and see what the book is selling for and if alot have gone unsold ( yiou can click on a link in left column after you do a search that says completed auctions.

if it doesnt look like its one that will sell or for not much considering the time you need to list and ship it - i would
look into paperback swap.com or sell in bulk on craigs list .

I've heard that Amazon & Cash4books offer the most on text books. If you are selling fiction novels, I would suggest Craigslist because it's free to list.

or in bulk on ebay to make it worth the listing fee.

    but that's just my opinion.

    good luck.

The books are mostly resource materials on whalers, scrimshaw and those eras - from our shop. Doesn't look as if there is much interest out there.

Try looking them up, first, at bookfinder.com Bookfinder will pull books from 10,000,000+ worldwide, including amazon, half, abebooks, powells, etc.

The prices are retail, not wholesale of course.

Books with ISBNs frequently yield very little, retail, mostly because of amazon.com . (Don't get me started!) If that's true, it's easier and more advantageous to sell them to an interested party otherwise. If you have a shop and/or a customer base, you might be better off doing it the "old fashioned" way, that is, make a list and send the list out.

On a list, you'll need: author, Title, publisher, year, pages, and description. See abebooks.com for information about book descriptions. The book size abbreviations 8mo etc. are common in the book biz, but if you're selling to the general public, they won't know what they mean, so you can either measure using a ruler or just skip it.

If you want some help, scan one book's cover, title page, and back of the title page, I'll look it up for you and explain how to find books matching yours. (Seems obvious, it isn't always.)

Use a digital camera, it'll work just as well. I need to be able to see the cover/dustjacket, title page and the back of the title page. btw, a half title won't do me any good. A half title page is a page with just the title on it. A full title page has that as well as the author's name and usually some of the publishing information, the publisher, etc. as well.
