sorry, know nothing about it BUT............check it out CAREFULLY.
Friends have said that if you pick the wrong one it can really mess up the expenses............knowledge is power!!

Your pharmacist could probably help you too.......ask friends and go on-line and read.

Good luck.............someone on here should be able to help.

I would suggest a Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C) with the prescription coverage. You can compare the plans available in your area on the Medicare website. Just search for Medicare Plan Finder on their website. (I apologize, since I can't post links yet.)You need to take into account how often he goes to the doctor, hospital, things like that and the cost of his medications.

Also ask if you are eligible for extra help to pay the premiums. You should be able to call Medicare directly and ask them this. I think they then send you an application for it. It is income based and if you qualify you will have lower premiums.

I think the entire Medicare process is overwhelming, but I agree that you want to do your research carefully to avoid a costly mistake.

My husband goes into the hospital sometimes once a week sometimes more. He needs open heart surgery to replace two valves very soon, he takes 14 medications some twice a day, his medications run $500 plus a month or more. He sees a cardiologist, a regular doctor, a bone doctor (for his broken neck and back and the problems associated with them), a doctor for his hiatal hernia and acid reflux disease ( which is severe and needs surgery) he has pre Barretts Esophagus meaning on the verge of throat cancer.

I wish I knew more to advise you where to start, but I don't. I would definitely apply for the extra help with such costly medication. You can put your pharmacy as well as his medications into the plan finder and it will take those costs into account when looking for which plan is the best option for you.

I don't know about the individual plans or anything, just from researching when looking for an appropriate plan for my husband. Hopefully someone else comes along that maybe has a little more knowledge on your options.

Once you find a prescription plan I would check with your pharmacy and also any doctors you currently see to ask questions about that plan.

Check with your pharmacy to make sure that they service the company that you use and if all of his medications are covered..They can guide you in which plan to choose..We was lucky that my Dh drug plan was through the company that he worked for..but you want to make sure that all meds are covered..Also check out to see if you will qualify for reduced rates of premiums..

You will have to fight the system..and it takes a lot of time to do that
