Cashier's Check - Deposit?
I came across a cashier's check that I did not deposit. It is dated 12/1/2010. Can I still deposit it? Can't believe I left it so long. Only worth $1.94. The frugal me says to deposit it if I still can.
Anyone know if I can still deposit it?

Any phone numbers on it (the issuer, not the buyer). If not, do a Google search and try to call the company. If it is from a local bank, take it to a branch and try to cash it. If you deposit it and it bounces for ANY reason your bank will charge you a fee MUCH higher than $1.94. You might also take it to your bank and ASK their opinion.

Does it have a date or any verbiage on the check that states how long it is good for? As in check is void after 60 days?
Cashiers checks don't become stale-dated, but many have expiration verbiage on them. Check here for more details:

Well the next time I am in the bank I will ask the teller. There is no statement on the check saying good until. Will see what happens. It is drawn from an actual bank.
Thanks for pointing out a possible fee. Will be extra careful since it is such a little amount.

Most only give you 60 or 180 days to cash them, but unless that is on the check, you should be okay. Just ask the teller and they will know whether it is likely to clear or be returned. You certainly don't want one returned that is for $1-something as the bank will probably charge you $5 if it comes back.
