    Default freezer biscuits

    Has any one on fv made the freezer biscuits that you use yeast in? And how did they turn out good or not so good? I made a batch about 2 years ago and they tasted good but didn't rise very much.I am planning on trying them again.

    Freezer biscuits
    5-cups of flour
    1-teaspoon of soda
    1-teaspoon salt
    4-teaspoon baking powder
    4-tablespoons sugar
    1-cup of shortening
    2-packages yeast
    1/4-cup warm water
    2-cups of butter milk

    Dissolve yeast in warm water set a side.
    sift dry ingredients and cut in shortening.Add yeast and milk to dry ingredients,mixing well.Knead quickly 20 to 30 strokes.
    Roll and cut out into biscuits place parchment paper on cookie sheets place biscuits on paper let freeze,when frozer place in freezer bags.

    When ready to bake place biscuits,without thawing on cookie sheet,place in oven turn oven on to 400 degrees.bake until brown,25 to 30 minutes.

    If oven must be used for other baking,biscuits may be started in a preheated oven. In this case they should be allowed to thaw and rise at room temperature 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
