We also call it chow chow here. I've seen it made with green tomatoes, cabbage, and about anything left over in the garden like zuchinni. Never heard it called cha cha though.

We make chow chow with cabbage, here. Depending on the type of pepper used, it's mild and sweet or relatively spicy. I serve it as an additional side when I offer pickles and mock apple rings. In my home, chow chow is a must with country fried steak and gravy.

I grew up on chow chow, I especially like mine with fried green tomatoes and pinto beans. My aunt still cans some every summer and she uses cabbage, she also makes a mild and a hot version.

    chow chow here....
    11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
    credit card debt 7500
    mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
    then live on the rest!

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

Thanks all...........I AM going to make some. One recipe only makes a couple jars.........will do that first. Have to see if I like it.

Have to pick up a couple of ingredients first.

Do you think 'an average' size head of cabbage would make 4 cups? That is what I need for the recipe...........

Even thought of using purple cabbage...but......I already HAVE one head of green.
